Girls Rock Bloomington
Summer Camp
Campers' ages range from 8-14. We pride ourselves on facilitating meaningful interactions through each section of camp. Camp consists of instrument classes, community-led workshops and band practice. The instrument classes vary in skill and familiarity but always allow campers to uplift and learn from each other. Our community-led workshops open the door to meaningful mentoring relationships between campers and workshop leaders. In their bands, campers are tasked with creating an original song collaboratively to perform in the final showcase, with the help of a band coach. This goal drives campers to work together and create something they're proud of. These different sections of camp work in tandem to foster a confidence boosting and impactful time for all campers involved.
Registration is now open for our 2025 Camp (Camp is currently full, you will be added to a waitlist. Thanks so much for your interest!) (Click “Registration” link to sign up. Spots are limited.)

Workshops and After-School Programs
We partner with local organizations such as Ivy Tech Community College, Monroe County Public Library, FAR Center for Contemporary Arts, Young Women Writing for a Change, Russian Recording, WFHB’s Youth Radio and The IU Arts and Humanities Council to present after-school workshops and programming for girls, trans and non-binary youth ages 8-14 on such topics as: gear sampler, songwriting, merch making, recording, zine making, screen printing, album art, how to make your own radio show and more!
Interested in working with us to provide a customized music and mentoring workshop experience at your organization or school? We’d love to hear from you!
We're expanding our age range for ages 2-5 (open to all identities) with Little Rockers music class!
These caregiver-and-child classes include activities like sing-along, rhythm building and open instrument exploration- with each class focusing on a different "Rock n' Roll" instrument star (guitar, drums, keyboard and vocals.) Children will experience the developmental benefits of music in a creative, child-led setting that makes it fun for them (and their caregivers!)
What Kids Are Saying
-
“For every session we got to do something completely new, and everything was so informative and interesting. Every class was extremely hands-on, and we got to really do things, not just hear about them. It was wonderful to meet so many smart and creative people. An experience is really affected by the connections one makes throughout." — Phoebe M, age 11
-
"It was fun because I got to hang out with other kids and play music. It inspired me to take drum lessons. It was one of my favorite camps!" — Natasha, age 10
-
"I like it since it's really, really fun. It's made a difference in my life because I've learned more about music." — Alice, age 9
Open Mic Nights
We partner with local all-ages spaces to offer seasonal open mic opportunities for all identities. These events are celebratory by nature and aim to lift up each voice who shares, as well as those in attendance.
